Donate here (lost gear replacement fund)

Because so many of us wanted to help when we found out about the evil evil theft of nearly all Decemberist instrumentationĂ¢â‚¬Â¦

Our gracious offers of assistance now have a home:

This is a general fund for the Decemberists to replace all kinds of missing gear.

Take a bite out of crime, as they say. Brigadiers, let's show those remorseless pilferers that nothing can stand in our way!

I donated only a dollar because that's all I could afford... that leaves about $2 in my account for some sort of $2 emergency.

Yep, I'll donate in a couple of days after the bank updates my address (since my address is in flux at the moment... can't really use my credit card online right now). I'm not rich myself, got a lot of medical bills pending, but I'm sure I can scrape up $10. I was at the Seattle show and it left me with such a warm fuzzy feeling that I want to repay that in whatever small way I can.

I sent in $10. There are 2000 users here and if everyone did they could raise $20,000 which still wouldnt cover it, but it'd help I'm sure. Perusing the stolen gear list there were some nice items, and it's got to be a bitter pill losing a couple $2000 guitars.

a bargain, I say!

I just sent $100, based on this math:

(20) x $5 dollar words = $100. So far, I have only paid for these words:

roustabout, wastrel, petticoat, parapet, moribund, maidenhead, odalisque, seraphim, Arethusa, bowery, chimbley (I'm not sure this is a real word, but it's worth $5), samovar, dolor, iniquity, corncrake, thistledown, cardamom, infanta, falderal, palanquin

There are so many more words we need to pay for:)

And, if it hasn't been cancelled, I will see you guys tomorrow night at Bimbo's 365 in San Francisco...

Need a few volunteers?

My husband and I would like to donate some money and would also like to offer our time. We will be at the LA show on Thurs. (3/24) and at the Pomona show on Sat. (3/26) - could we perhaps man a table and collect donations there? We're ready and willing to help.

If I had some money from the missing gear fund then maybe... just maybe I could donate. I have a measely $35 in my savings which I am using to pay for an engagement ring. Maybe in the future. I really want to.

Don't worry, it's been over seven months since the theft, and they recovered some of the gear afterward. They're back on their feet, and hopefully they've put it behind them by now.
