Changes to the forums...Please provide input

Input?

Whenever I log on the front page, I have to do so twice. And when I log in the second time it clears all the postd marked unread. I've tried clicking on the top header of the message board, but it just sends me to the area where I need to sign in (not the sign in page, the front page).

Temporary solution is to bookmark the board and sign in, then go to the bookmark.

Possible problem: Mozilla Firefox?

Doubtful - I'm using Firefox as well (v1.0.1 on WinXP SP2) and, though I have had all the threads mysteriously marked as read on occasion, I've never had problems logging in.

In the Options... Privacy section, I have
[check] Allow sites to set cookies
[check] for the originating website only
expire cookies when I close Firefox
exceptions: allow decemberists.com

Then I check the auto-login box when logging in, and it just works from then on.

BTW, if you're using the RSS or Atom feeds by any chance, I think the posts may be marked as read as they're retrieved. You could create a second account to avoid that behavior.

I'm not using RSS or Atom, and my settings are identical to yours (right down to the os and version), except for the auto log-in box. I have the password/username saved on my computer.

That's odd. Maybe try clearing all the decemberists.com cookies and logging in again?

I have done that too! :D

It only happens when I initially log on or click on the icon for "read new posts in this thread" (the arrow/orange sheet). It's not that big of a deal, but now I know it's a problem on my end, and not system wide.

you should allow 'www.decemberists.com' as well, your system will likely try to store a separate cookie for each if you ever happen to use both urls

Okay, so.. I just have a few questions.

1. Is it possible to not have 100 posts per page?
2. Is it possible to make more underforas and such so the forum doesn't become so messy?

I might sound too complaining, but I'm actually finding it hard becoming active because I find it too messy here. :(

Any thoughts on a chat box at the bottom of the page for live users? Sometimes those are fun.

we have a skype chat that we tend to use- that way we can voice chat instead of just typing! If we haven't scared you off, I'd like to formally invite you to join in sometime!

Yes, I think so.
